Had our baby in early December, hooray!! Anyone interested in meeting up with little ones to go on a nice long stroll or mini-hike? Hope all of you are swell :)

Hi Sarah!

Welcome to the group.  We haven't actually done any hikes together -- I think we are all fairly spread out (as you know, Southern Cali is a big place) albeit not as big as Alaska!!  If you wanted to organize a hike sometime, the Santa Monica Mountains up in the Los Angeles area are really great for day hikes, as is the Angeles Crest National Forest.  I'm having my second baby in a few days so probably won't be up for a hike for a little while yet, but do keep me posted!!

Hey So Cal Outdoor Families!

My family and I just moved to San Clemente from Anchorage, Alaska and are in desperate need of some good parks, natural areas in the area, and peeps like us.  Do you all ever to get together for hikes?

This is not a camping suggestions but you really should go to the San Diego Zoo a great place.  But we hated Sea world, I would skip that.

 

Also theire is a great park outside of San Diego designed by a women artist but I don't remember the name of it something like queen latifa.... anyways that is a beautiful place to see. very urban outdoors.

Hi Cali Campers,

My family has to be in LA for a wedding in early August, and will probably make a vacation of it.  We're not really into the Disneyland sort of vacation, and would like some suggestions for spending about a week in the LA/San Diego area.  We love to camp and hike, but I'm not sure late summer weather in southern California is really great for that.  Early in our marriage, my hubby and I tent-camped in Death Valley in late July.  Big (stupid) mistake.  Anyway, we'd appreciate any ideas you might have for us.
